Treasurer’s Report: Carolyn- we are in good standing

OLD BUSINESS:
Glen Loma Fire Station: The city looking for 3 million dollars a year for salaries. Cal Fire is being considered as it would be less costly as training is not for an urban setting. March 24 at 6:00 p.m. the city is meeting with Morgan Hill to discuss their relationship with Cal Fire. Fewer paramedic trained fire fighters would reduce salary expense. The city has already put in their share along with Glen Loma so building the station can begin in the near future. It must be completed and ready for use by the time Glen Loma has built 1100 dwelling units, including those in apartment buildings. If Glen Loma decides to build fewer dwelling units, how long do we have to wait for the fire station?
Tenth St. Bridge: We need to know the real cost of the bridge as the cost continues to rise significantly in a short amount of time. The mayor said that it is a lot of money that the city doesn’t have. Bonds have been discussed. The San Jose Shark complex has been paid for entirely by the Shark organization in other cities that they have built in, so Gilroy should pay nothing.
Wren Investors: applied through LAFCO for annexation-the city has to apply and not known at this time if this has happened-the city council has approved it
2020 Council Election: Velasco, Tovar, Tucker, and Marques up for election. Dan Mitchell, Marques, and Rebecca Armendariz are running. Tovar and Bracco might run for mayor. Velasco is not running for Mayor.

NEW BUSINESS:
Ag Tourism parcel owner has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy so it gives the option to restructure finances and come back. He can get an extension from the city to build if filed before July 3. The roundabout might be started by Caltrans next month as the permits are all in place.

City Manager’s Resignation: moved down south for a job opportunity- council has not discussed a replacement.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Planning Commission: March 12 discussion about new beer garden on second and Monterey-tenant will live upstairs. The following Thursday is meeting on ADU’s.
Historic Heritage Committee-Steve Seebart is no longer on the HHC. There is a building that will be reviewed. Connie reviewed the packet and there are properties that are okay to be removed, but some of the additions proposed to the registry are questionable.
Downtown Business Assn.: China Garden has been purchased-it is being debated if it is a URM. Golden State Brewery business has been purchased and wants to open up around June. Between Fourth and Fifth, a possible fish market. Hall’s Building is having a delay with PG&E. Railroad and Martin St Creamery Building needs to be taken care of. 2021 paving of Demonstration Garden for parking will happen.

Red Barn received their second grant so they can do foundation work.

General Plan-EIR Suggestion: Send out info packets to committee members, council members, and the public two weeks prior to the meeting so there is time to review the information prior to the meeting.

POSSIBLE GUESTS: Assemblyman Rivas to express our concerns about housing needs or Barry from the Dispatch to express our concern over lack of local guest columnists and opinion letters.
