A6: I don't think that the current plans for Sargent Ranch are a good fit for south county. I would advocate, at the county level, for a different use for the land such as a low impact recreation destination. I would collaborate with nearby cities that also oppose this project, as a source of strength and unity.

A6: I stand firmly with the Gilroy City Council in opposing the Sargent Ranch quarry. I’ve already written a letter expressing my opposition to the county. At the county level, I’ll actively support this stance by advocating for responsible land use and environmental protection. I would attend county meetings, collaborate with other local leaders, and engage the community to voice our concerns. Protecting our natural resources and preventing harmful development is crucial for the long-term well-being of Gilroy and its residents.

A6: I had no knowledge of this plan or issue before reading this. Not even on my radar. And, even if I had knowledge, the amount of information I see in just a cursory look leads me to believe that, until such time as I would know it would come before the council again, I doubt I would dig into it enough to render any valuable opinion as there would be more pressing things requiring my attention on the council with more immediacy. That said, if key issues in Gilroy require attention at the County level, especially when it pertains to our independence as a city to make certain land use decisions, I will be there, in person if necessary, to fight for the residents and their will.
