GGS Meeting Minutes from October 15, 2019

For the First Street Corridor (Focus Area 3), GPAC chose Concept #1, “Mixed-Use—Low” which only allows a maximum of 4 stories. But the Planning Commission voted for the higher density alternative that allows 6 stories and can be up to 7 stories with density bonuses. Time for Gilroy’s Public Safety Services to Catch Up with New Housing

We’re making the following request because smart growth includes making sure that public safety services accompany growth. We would like you to prioritize and advance construction of both the Glen Loma Fire Station and the 10th Street Bridge. We believe these projects are critical to the provision of improved public safety response times and traffic circulation in the south west quadrant.

GGS Meeting Minutes from Feb. 12, 2019

The General Plan progress should be monitored as some policies from the 20/20 General Plan have been eliminated without GPAC discussion.  Lowering the levels of traffic service in the Tenth Street bridge area could lead to developers not being required to widen the bridge in the future.  This would save the developer money but leave Gilroy residents with a traffic nightmare.
