Our Executive Board recently voted to support the Coalition to Protect San Benito County. This group was formed to defeat a huge, 2,700-acre, land-grab Initiative, Measure N, put on their ballot by the Newport Pacific Land Company, a powerful out-of-town housing developer. We want to support the No on N campaign because:
This project is actually closer to Gilroy than to Hollister and the traffic on our roads and highways will be increased. As you can see on the map below, it is immediately east of the Pajaro River, our county line.

Thank you for soliciting our comments on your plans for developing High Speed Rail in the Gilroy area. We do feel fortunate that a station is planned for Gilroy and that we have an excellent location for it. We are also very pleased to see that you have included our 2016 Urban Growth Boundary in your planning documents. Our comments will pertain to the City of Gilroy alignments. We note that CHSR has chosen Alternative 4, the Blended Option, as the preferred alternative. We too do have our preferences and concerns as follows:
